Profits and Plans

Fargo, N.D, – AdFarm shareholders gathered in Fargo and Kansas City AdFarm offices to hear details of their profitable 2008 winter wheat crop and plans for the 2009 AdFarm North Dakota farm.

Shareholders divided the $5,166 of net income from the 2008 winter wheat crop amongst the 416 shares sold. Shareholders generated a $12.42 return for each share. The purchase price per share was $25.00.

2009 AdFarm North Dakota Farm Boss Les Kahl reported: “The 76 shareholders who took advantage of our ‘buy four shares, get a fifth share free’ offer were the big winners in our 2008 AdFarm educational experience. These shareholders received $162 on their $100 investment, a 1.62 return on investment. Shareholders who purchased less than four shares received a 1.497 return on investment. It was a good year, again, to be ‘Crazy about Farming’.”

Pinto Beans in 2009

Kahl, AdFarm North Dakota Farm Coordinator Erin Jarolimek and Cooperating Farmer Fred Lukens shared plans for the 2009 AdFarm North Dakota crop: pinto beans. Jarolimek explained, “We want to rotate to a broadleaf crop and our ground is properly set up to raise pinto beans this year.” Jarolimek added that the North Dakota State University Agricultural Extension Service has rated pinto beans as the #1 profit opportunity crop in east central North Dakota for 2009.

Jarolimek and Kahl are leading the efforts to secure 2009 shareholders. Kahl explained, “Our goal is to increase employee participation from 110 to 130 this year. We also aim to increase shareholders who purchase the maximum four shares and get the fifth free from 76 to 90 employees. This is a valuable experience for all of our employees. We’ll be telling that story over and over during April.”

The sign-up deadline for 2009 AdFarm ND employee farm shares is April 24, 2009.
